Hockey Accelerators: Pre-Season Foundation Programme is Canterbury Hockey's pre season skill development programme for athletes looking to hit the 2019 season with a running start. The programme caters for a wide range of age groups with 3 levels designed to help players get back into touch after the summer break, while they take their skills to the next level. Level 1 invites Year 5-6 athletes to attend while Level 2 caters for Year 7-8 and Level 3 for secondary school students.
The price per participant is $150.00, this covers six practise sessions with coaching from experienced top level coaches / players, a programme training top, use of facilities and a skills resource at the end of the programme.
Level 1: Year 5-6 (school years)
- Sessions are on Wednesdays 4:15-5:15 pm, starting January 30 and running through to March 6 at Nunweek Park
Level 2: Year 7-8 (school years)
- Sessions on Wednesdays from 5:15-6:15 pm, starting January 30 and running through to March 6 at Nunweek Park
Level 3: Year 9-13 (school years)
- Sessions are on Thursdays 4.15-5.15pm, starting January 1 and running through to March 7 at Marist Park
Each level will be split into skill appropriate groups which allows us to cater for athletes with Canterbury representative experience right through to others with limited hockey experience and all those in between.
Participants will need their hockey gear: stick, shin pads, mouth guards, appropriate clothing to train in and drinks bottles..
Goalkeepers are welcome. We run keeper specific drills with specialist coaches for at least half of every session (usually more). Sessions are run in small groups with lots of repetition and plenty of feedback. Keepers must provide their own gear.
All up Hockey Accelerators: Pre-Season Foundation Programme is a great opportunity for young athletes to learn from the best as they have fun and enjoy the learning that will help them develop as hockey players in the future.
