The men’s challenge shield continued its mid-season merry go round, with HSOB/Burnside bringing an end to Avon’s one game tenure with a strong 4-2 victory. Moss Jackson put Old Boys in the box seat with a first half hat-trick to give his side what seemed like an unassailable lead.

However, Avon weren’t going to give up the shield easily though and came roaring back in the second half with goals to Lewis Edmond and Ai Barrow. They kept the pressure on in the final quarter and removed their goalkeeper too as they went in search of a late equalize. But like he had all game Moss Jackson stole the show with his fourth to seal a famous victory.

The win also sees HSOB/Burnside leap into third place, while Avon slip out of the top four.

Carlton Redcliffs women continued their perfect 2019 season, defeating defending champions Harewood 3-0 on Saturday, which guarantees them top spot and a second consecutive Rosebowl with three rounds remaining.
